Whilst the rooms are more European in design and built in low rise blocks, this hotel is about the public areas and facilities. By comparison to the rest of the island, the rooms are not as inspiring or original however they are modern, bright and stylish with every mod con you would expect from an international luxury hotel including iPod docks and wireless internet.

The Sea Cliff Resort - The Details
Vast public areas with two infinity pools set over two ocean front levels on the rock face. The beach is just a short stroll, bicycle or buggy ride away and unlike the east coast, you can swim from the beach throughout the day. The elevated position gives you commanding views across the ocean. Large pools surrounded by generously spaced loungers mean you will never feel short of space. The architects have cleverly created a large hotel that maintains a boutique feel by providing different spaces for relaxing, dining and drinking. In addition to a comprehensive list of activities, Seacliff is unique in that they offer you the choice of half board, full board or all inclusive meal plans. The only down side is that there is no dive centre. Beginner divers will have to travel to Stone Town, whilst experienced divers can be collected from the resort and join groups heading out to explore the plentiful reefs of the Zanzibar Archipelago with One Ocean Divers. For those who enjoy exploring, the Mangapwani Caves, Stone Town and access to neighbouring small islands from the port in Stone Town are all a short distance away. Car hire can be arranged and so long as you are armed with a compass and creative map reading skills, then the island is your oyster!

Resort Service & Facilities
The Mangapwani Restaurant is the hotel’s premier dining space serving breakfast, lunch and dinner under a vast thatched Makuti roof. You can dine outside on the expansive terraces or in the open plan dining room. A secondary Kobe Restaurant offers lunches and light meals by the smaller swimming pool in a relaxed and informal dining area. The Kobe restaurant is open daily from 12.30-19.00 and also features a bar for poolside drinks.
The Zanzi-bar is located between the main restaurant and the recreation area. This formal bar is full of Zanzibari chests and leather sofas, a perfect meeting point and fantastic for pre-dinner drinks and sun downers.
The Jetty Bar specialises in sunset cocktails and is open for just a few hours from 17.00 – 19.00 each day. There is an additional beach bar next to the water sports centre which opens from 10.00 – 17.00 each day.
The water sports centre offers a wide range of activities with non-motorised sports being complimentary to all guests. They offer equipment for sailing, wake boarding, windsurfing, stand-up paddle boarding, water skiing and pedaloe boat trips. Lessons in any of the sports offered can be arranged with the guest relation manager at reception and are chargeable.
Up amongst the main public areas, the Sports and Recreation Centre offers darts, table tennis, squash court, gym, snooker table, two floodlight tennis courts, volley ball court and bicycles. All the sports and recreation facilities are free to guests.
The Shwari Spa (Shwari translates to peace and tranquillity in Kiswahili) has five indoor and two outdoor treatment rooms. One of the indoor rooms is designed for couple’s treatments and in addition to the private treatment spaces there is a sauna, steam room and plunge pool. The Spa works in partnership with Africology and they share the following vision: passion for the healing essence of plant life and the restorative power of essential oils. We blend this insight with our respect for the wisdom of traditional healers. Our aim is to share this over-arching wisdom with all. The Shwari spa offers treatments including facials, manicures, pedicures, body scrubs and massages using the Africology range of products.
Community & Conservation
The Seacliff supports the community around Mangapwani by employing and training local people within the resort as well as purchasing fish and food produce for the kitchens from local farmers and fishermen.
Their spa partnership aids the Africology Community Development Projects – working to supply clean water and encourage education and enterprise throughout Africa.
