Baraza Resort and Spa - The Details
The generously spaced loungers on the beach offer guest’s private space outside of their ample villas and no sooner as you’ve settled yourself, a smiling chap will arrive with mouth-watering fruits and crushed ice cocktails. All the staff are dressed in Omani style traditional white robes and glide through the resort as if part of the design. Service is amongst the best on the Island.
The Faranghi spa is without doubt the finest in Zanzibar and we’d go as far as to say East Africa. Thai, Balanise and Indian therapists stimulate your senses and then set you to rest in the lavish relaxation room adorned in rich golden fabrics and decorative brass ornaments. Baraza is an all villa resort with a total of 30 detached single story accommodations as follows:

Bahari Villas
14 One bedroom Bahari villas make up the two front rows with just seven villas having a direct uninterrupted ocean view. Each villa is 148 sq meters with a master bedroom, en-suite bathroom and freestanding bath, walk in dressing room, living room, TV, CD player, sultan's lounge bed, mini bar area with tea and coffee making facilities, large terrace, two sun loungers, and plunge pool.
Sultans Villas
15 Sultans two bedroom villas make up the back three rows with five villas facing the ocean and two rows facing the gardens. Each villa is 193 sq meters with a master bedroom , en-suite bathroom and freestanding bath, walk in dressing room, second bedroom with en suite bathroom (with shower) , living room, TV, CD player, Sultan's lounge bed, mini bar area with tea and coffee making facilities, large terrace, two sun loungers and plunge pool.
Presidential Villa
The Presidential two bedroom ocean front villa is 254 sq meters with two master bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom and freestanding bath, walk in dressing room and terrace, central living room with a spectacular sea front view, large plunge pool, outdoor daybed and lounging area alongside a terrace with sun loungers.The Presidential Villa also has a small kitchenette and separate guest washroom. There is also a separate, self-contained accommodation for maid or butler adjacent to the presidential suite.

Our equally important younger guests can enjoy the Baraza Kids Club. The club offers a great venue, a variety of activities and supervised care during specific hours of the day. Parents can rest assured that your young ones will have plenty to keep them occupied during their stay.

Medical Care Clinic
The hotel nurse and is available at the hotel clinic to assist with any medical issues.

Located at the Frangipani Spa, the fitness centre offers a fully equipped gym. Open from 9:00am to 6:00pm.
Tennis Court
Equipment rental is available from 9:00am to 6:00pm at the spa. The court is available for use all day and evening. Please make a booking at the Fitness Centre and make arrangements to collect any equipment during opening hours.

Tours and Excursions Desk
The Tours and Excursions Desk is open daily and offers a selection of books, maps and general information about the island. Please ask the guest relations manager for assistance in planning your tour of the island which features historical, natural and cultural attractions which are known the world over.

A decision was made when Baraza opened to support the local hotel school and as a result virtually 90% of all staff are graduates. They have undergone intensive training programs, English classes (from a professional instructor of English) and have acquired a lifetime skill which will benefit them and the hospitality industry of Zanzibar in general for an entire generation.
Their charity Baraza for Bwejuu (linked with sister hotels Breezes and Palms) has been responsible for a huge improvement in the quality of life of the village. Since its inception, this charity has built a mosque, repainted the Bwejuu clinic and supplied them with fresh water and medicines (during the most recent power blackout). They have donated beds and mattresses, clothes, school supplies, and books.
Once a year, together with another charity, the Baraza management and staff go to the village and clean the beaches and villages, paint the clinic and celebrate another year of working together with the local community. The most recent event which was done together with sister property (Breezes for Bwejuu) was a Mchamvi vs. Bwejuu football match; we donated 40 footballs to the pitch along with a trophy for the winner. The winning team received Tanzanian Shillings 800,000 and the other team received 450,000. These moneys are going to be used by the teams respectively to buy uniforms, train, and assist in providing the youth of the two villages with constructive activities.
Baraza guests consistently send gifts, donations and helpful material to the charity which is a wonderful indicator of the success of the program and the importance of bringing them to visit and experience village life.
