Q: I have seen pictures that show the sea comes right up to Langi Langi when the tide comes in – does this mean that the hotel is cut off at high tide?

A: Not at all! In fact this hotel is located among a row of beachfront properties that overhang the ocean at high tide. There is a wide thoroughfare behind the hotels than run all the from the Z Hotel behind Amaan Bungalows and Langi Langi to a couple of beach bars on the next beach so you’ll always be able to get from place to place.

Q: Does this mean that people not from the hotel will be walking through the hotel area?

A: Even though there is a thoroughfare through the hotel area, Langi Langi has security so the public cannot just walk into the accommodation area. If you would like p more privacy or security we would recommend the garden rooms or one of the sea view suites.

Q: I see that Langi Langi offer Zanzibari Cooking lessons – are there any other cultural activities I can enjoy?

A: Nungwi is the dhow boat building centre of the island and you can see local villagers working on the beach just a short walk away. You can also visit the village and meet the locals and learn a little about how they live – you can even visit a local school of you wish.

Q: How far away is Langi Langi from Zanzibar airport?

A: Langi Langi is approximately an hour''s drive by car or private taxi.

Langi Langi - Opinions and Reviews

Unlike many operators we not only visit all the hotels we offer regularly but we also stay in them. Please find a few hints, tips and opinions from our team below:

Langi Langi represents great value in popular area of Zanzibar Island. The hotel has a very warm and homely feel about it, with a very relaxed atmosphere. The food is great and some of the best in the area. One possible down side is that the restaurant does not serve alcohol, but guests are permitted to bring in alcoholic drinks bought outside the premises to have with dinner etc.

It is definitely worth going for one of the sea view rooms if you can. The rooms are quite a lot bigger and each has a balcony where you can sit and enjoy fantastic views of the ocean, which is amazingly turquoise in this area.

Langi Langi is a Zazibari owned and run, excellent guest house in the heart of Nungwi, great for exploring the local community on foot and interacting with the Zanzibari people and the Masai that wander the beach selling their traditional beads and trinkets. From here you can visit the Turtle Sanctuary and enjoy the lively beach atmosphere with many beach front restaurants and you’re never short of something to do either independently or on tours grouped together daily from the tourists looking to venture out to sea or inland. Great fun for a few days or more if you prefer a faster paced holiday.
