Suites

All the suites are equipped with TV, telephone, iPod docking station, air conditioning, safe, hair dryer and a ‘tailored to your requirements’ mini bar. Bathrooms are spacious with showers only. Windows can be opened to enjoy the natural Zanzibar weather and complimentary Wi-Fi can be accessed in your suite and throughout the resort. Maximum occupancy is 3 people.

Garden Suite

Situated at the back of the resort with luscious garden views these garden 1 bedroom suites offer upwards
of 55m² of floor space and are either ground floor with terrace or upper floor with patio, each offering a
further 10m² of private outside space.

Sea View Suite

Individual suites (like bungalows) with 58m² of floor space and a 22m² private patio. Each provide a magnificent ocean view.

Ocean Front

Individual suites (like bungalows) with 58m² of floor space and a 22m² private patio. These suites are positioned right at the front of the resort and offer unrestricted spectacular views of the mesmerising Indian Ocean.

Private Villas

Each villa provides a full kitchen with dining area, a private plunge pool and a separate spa treatment room with shower facilities. All are equipped with TV’s, telephones, iPod docking station, air conditioning, safe and hair dryers. Villa en-suites also feature baths. All villas have 2 or 3 King Size Rooms and 1 Twin bedroom. All are en-suite.

3 Bedroom Garden or Sea View

This villa offers spacious living over 2 floors and provides views of the gardens or sea. The villa is detached
and offers 193m² of floor space, a ground floor patio of 73m² and an upper terrace of 36m².

3 Bedroom Sea front

This is ‘THE’ villa, offering a perfect location with unrestricted breath-taking views of the magnificent Indian Ocean. This villa is larger than the other 3 bedroom villas with 291m² of floor space and a 93m² patio and a 165m² upper terrace.

4 Bedroom Garden/Sea View/Ocean Front

This villa offers spacious living over 2 floors and provides views of the gardens, sea or ocean front. The villa is detached and offers 343m² of floor space, a ground floor patio of 84m² and an upper terrace of 91m².

The Market Kitchen Restaurant is available for your main expansive spread of crisp salads, cured meats, fresh seafood, bread straight from the oven, mouth-watering cheeses and desserts.

A La Carte Restaurant for fine dining, signature plates and char-grilled prime South African beef steak. The Jetty Restaurant for Mezze, Sun downers, Sheehsa and al fresco music in an ever changing setting to mirror the flow of the ocean.

The spirit of genuine and personal experience through ‘Navigators’ is unique to Essque Zalu and the on-going development of the team keeps them poised to give the best service in front of and behind the scenes to enhance guests’ experiences. The focus on social responsibility is evident in the traditional methods used in construction and the post build aesthetics throughout. Local growers fill the kitchens of the three restaurants and café to bring the flavours and spices of Zanzibar to your plate.

Solar Panels, Sewerage treatment plant and a salt chlorinated pool all reduce the environmental impact of Essque Zalu along with natural ventilation for cooling which reduces energy consumption and solar heat loads.

The Details

With no traditional reception at the resort, a specially selected and trained ‘Navigator’ greets you as you enter and guides you to your Suite or Villa, passing the cascading water wall and helping to unravel the pathways and gardens for you to experience all Zalu has to offer. Space and light are in abundance and well thought out quirky understated design features continue to impress as you get to know the Zalu landscape. Sun bathing Islands jut out into the swimming pool and individually operated massage jets are dotted around the pool side, whist the Jacuzzi flows into the main pool, bubbling into life as and when guests wish.
