The Safari Details

Day 1

Arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport, clear Customs and Immigration formalities then meet your driver in the arrivals hall. Proceed with the safari to lake Manyara National Park for game drive in this small but attractive park between the lake and the steep rim of the Great Rift Valley. Elephants, Giraffes, Buffalos, Warthogs, flamingo’s and birds of prey can easy be spotted within the park. The legendary tree-climbing lions of Lake Manyara inspire extensive theorizing as to the wonders of evolution. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Crater Lodge

Day 2

After a leisurely breakfast drive to Ndutu within the Conservation Area, your first stop is at Olduvai Gorge where Dr.Louis and Mary Leakey discovered the fossilized remains of the earliest man, believed to be 1.8 million years old. Enjoy an on-site talk on the interpretation of the gorge by the resident guide. Proceed to Ndutu for afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at Olakira Camp.

Olakira Camp: As the great Migration makes its way across the expansive Serengeti plains, so the luxury seasonal Olakira Camp follows. In the early part of the year, Olakira is perfectly situated to witness the calving of wildebeest. In the dryer months the camp moves to the Northern Serengeti to have a front row seat for when the big herds move north. Under canvas and intimate, Olakira Camp captures the essence of classic mobile tented safaris, reminiscent of safaris in the old days.

Days 3 and 4

Breakfast at the camp, spend two full days viewing game in this famous part of Serengeti National Park. Ndutu is the place where the wildebeest concentrate here for three months of Dec, Jan and Feb. This area is also known as the calving ground as wildebeests birth hundreds of calves a day in this time of the year. Diner and overnight at Olakira Camp.

Day 5

Enjoy your early breakfast at the camp and drive to Ngorongoro directly into the crater some 600 meters down to experience the true spirit of Africa, the Africa of bygone days! Then explore the crater as the permanent home of its wildlife population, long regarded as Africa’s “Garden of Eden”. From the comfort of your 4 x 4 vehicle crafted exclusively for game viewing will give an opportunity to spot Big five – Elephant, buffalo, leopard, black mane lion and the rare black rhinoceros- as well hyenas, jackals, flamingos and the yawning hippos. Enjoy a delightful picnic lunch in the heart of this ancient volcanic crater. Early evening ascend and drive to your lodge for spectacular views, dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Crater Lodge.

Day 6

After a leisurely breakfast, drive back to Arusha arriving for lunch and afternoon transfer to Arusha Airport for your onward journey.
